Name: Youth Health Awareness Project
Goal: Raising the level of knowledge and awareness about HIV and its ways of transmission.
Sponsor Group: HIV Awareness Campaign Group (HACG)
Project Summary:
The mandate of our organization is to give information to people in the region and beyond that will help make healthy decisions for themselves and their families. We will be working with the local school and health centre on this project.
Project Objectives:
  • ·         Help prevent the spread of new infections of HIV/AIDS
  • ·        Understand what life is like for people living with HIV/AIDS
Project Expected Result:
  • ·        More youth will know more about how to help prevent the spread of new infections of HIV.
  • ·        Youth will better understand what life is like for people living with HIV/AIDS
  • ·        Youth will believe HIV/AIDS is real when they hear from the horses’’ mouth
The tools that will be used to measure the results of the project include workshop attendance and evaluations, feedback from youth, teachers, contractor and partners,  project records and financial reports.
Project Description:
The overall goal of this project will help youth make good decisions about their health. Youth in the region are at risk of contracting HIV through risks of sexual behavior and sharing unsterilized sharp objects (razor, clippers, needles, etc.). Youth do not have an understanding of how HIV can affect their lives. This project is needed in as more and more youth are being diagnosed with HIV in the communities. Our target audience is the youth in the community.
Need for the project:
It is important to create HIV awareness among the youth in the community. Every year the numbers of newly infected people are growing. Youth should know about HIV. These are many misunderstanding about HIV and AIDS in the minds of the youth. As a result of this they are discouraged and transmitting the infection to others unknowingly. HIV education will be the best option for creating the awareness among the youth. It should be provided at every place. Every doubt regarding HIV should be cleared. The basic information about HIV should be provided.The following information should be given to them:
  • ·        What is HIV?
  • ·      How does AIDS develop?
  • ·        Various test for HIV
  • ·        Various sexually transmitted diseases
  • ·        How does HIV transmit to others?
  • ·        Stages of HIV infection?
  • ·        Living with HIV
  • ·        HIV infection
The aim of the organization is to provide the information about HIV and AIDS and preventing youth from the HIV infection. Africa is mostly affected country by AIDS. There are lots of reasons behind it. Ignorance about HIV, lack of medical facilities, cultural obstacles etc. youth also need to better understand the consequences of risky behavior.
Partners: Community school and Health Centre.
The school will host the workshop and help recruit participants, the health centre will provide support and workshop assistance. Both these partners see how this project benefits their organization and the community.
