Adolescents, are at risk of contracting HIV through sexual
transmission, because a large majority engage in sexual intercourse,
have multiple partners over a period of time, and fail to consistently
use a condom during every act of intercourse. In addition, many young
people also become infected with other STDs that facilitate the
transmission of HIV.
